designer with a soul

i bot a book over the weekend (esp good wif the kino 20% disc for members) called 'How to be a graphic designer without losing your soul' and its currently like my bible... why? it answers (almost) all the questions in my head about how to get about being a designer in this world... how to do up portfolios.. how to get business.. how to set up your own business.. watever you can think of in design.. the book somehow has some answers to it...

and its pretty helpful insight as well... comes at a time where i'm questioning whether i'm (yup) losing my soul designing (if you can consider producing heartless work design)... its been a good read while sitting on the mrt.. its not a pictorial book.. its wordy and has interviews wif a few famous designers... and i like it... go read it if you are a designer... =) it'll prob be good for your soul.. ahahhaha

things that annoy me in the morning...

all train rides should come with lovely pillows...
1. rushing down to the bus stop only to realise that i've missed the bus...

2. getting to the mrt station only to have TWO consecutive trains not allowing boarding passengers coz it's off-peak hours... tmd.. they shld extend the hours till 10am what.. end at 9am.. tsk...

3. having REPEATED announcements of 'PLEASE STAND BEHIND YELLOW LINE' in FOUR languages, 'THE TRAIN AT PLATFORM A/B/C/D IS NOT FOR BOARDING' even after the train has arrived and left...

4. seeing this lady walking in front of me with her velour trackies that has 'JUICY' written over the butt area WHEN HERS ISN'T!!! -_-"" (i admit.. i'm a butt ger okay... i check out people's butts...)

eight hours in ikea

i spent eight hours in ikea yesterday... yup.. eight hours.. probably breaking the world record for longest-time-spent-in-an-ikea-store-by-a-non-ikea-employee... and if u think it was becoz we took our time walking and lookin at stuff... well... we were juz goin frm the bed dept to the wardrobe dept.. to the bed dept... to the cafe... back to wardrobe dept.. back to bed dept.. back to wardrobe dept.. back to bed dept... back to wardrobe dept... on to first storey... *whew*

and that is how u spend eight hours in ikea...

it took so long becoz we were trying to figure out how to place the furniture in the room such that it maximised the room space (it's a very tiny room) while trying to adhere to conditions set down by my bf... (cannot have anything around the bed.. dun wan to sleep next to the cupboard etc etc...) so there... -_-"

i'm thinkin of changing my room's wardrobe too.. hrmm perhaps another trip down to ikea might happen sometime in the near future... but definitely not in the next week! ahhahaha...

list of exciting things i did over the last two months...

lookin at my sequence of photos uploaded onto flickr... for the past month or two i...
- went for a pedicure (after one year of home-done pedis..)
- went to the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow (funny but not as funny as last year's tho i'll still go for next year's!)
- saw a real life praying mantis in my room (and frantically tried to make it go away)
- got two free pillows (thanks to ikea's pillow giveaway during their bedroom promo efforts...)
- ate a dinner made by my bf's italian colleague... she's good cook...
- bought my first item off Yahoo Auctions! a lovely flowery dress wif a green sash... gorgeous (cost me only $28 but looks more expensive than that!)
- ate a jap buffet at a restaurant located at odeon towers (yummz)
- bot a webcam and DVD drive on the same day (happy!)
- ate a hugemongous thosai in little india (wif my hands okay... very authentic)

and of coz
- worked like crazy (this isn't very exciting lah...)
